UNDERPERFORMING FAN STORES LEADS TO MAGIC CLOSING SHOPS

The Magic, "faced with a long, steady slide in demand
for sports merchandise," will "close its last two FanAttic
retail stores," according to Greg Groeller of the ORLANDO
     SENTINEL. The FanAttic's "free-standing," 10,000-square-
foot building near Orlando Arena will "close by the end of
December." A smaller store at West Oaks Mall in Ocoee will
close in January. Groeller: "Some of the stores'
merchandise and apparel will be moved to three retail
outlets at the Magic's training facility, RDV Sportsplex."
RDV Sportsplex VP Karl Droppers wouldn't say if the stores
"were losing money." Droppers: "They weren't performing to
our corporate standards" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 10/13).
