          CBS's ED BRADLEY will report on Hawks C DIKEMBE
     MUTOMBO's "push" for a new hospital in Kinsasha, Congo, on
     an upcoming edition of "60 Minutes."  Mutombo, on his fund-
     raising efforts for the hospital: "I'm not raising really so
     much from individuals as I thought I would.  But there are
     corporations who want to help me.  Turner, Chevron, Mobil. 
     Other companies that have business in Africa.  They want to
     be represented" (ATL. CONSTITUTION, 10/10)....HILLARY
     CLINTON spokesperson Howard Wolfson said that the First Lady
     "has no plans" to attend the Red Sox-Yankees ALCS in N.Y. 
     But N.Y. Mayor RUDY GIULIANI spokesperson Sunny Mindel said
     the Mayor will "probably be there" for the Yankees home
     games, and he "may also take in a Mets game" (N.Y. POST,
     10/12)....Ohio St. Univ. football coach JOHN COOPER signed a
     contract extension through 2004 that increases his base
     salary from $165,000 to $300,000 annually and "essentially
     doubles his previous bowl bonuses."  Cooper will receive
     $40,000 for any bowl bid, $450,000 for his TV show, $310,000
     annually from Nike, $25,000 for his radio show, $10,000 for
     a one-day appearance with Coca-Cola of Kentucky and $5,000
     for his summer camp (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 10/9)....Former
     Vikings Chair JOHN SKOGLUND passed away Friday due to lung
     cancer (Mult., 10/9)....In DC, Jerry Knight reported that
     Snyder Communications stock has "slipped" to less than $20 a
     share from $45 in the last 18 months.  Knight, who noted
     that the stock's price "probably has not been helped" by
     DANIEL SNYDER's purchase of the Redskins: "The team is
     viewed as a potential distraction that could keep the highly
     regarded young entrepreneur from devoting full attention to
     his day job" (WASHINGTON POST, 10/11)....In Boston, Gregg
     Krupa profiled MASSACHUSETTS SPORTS PARTNERSHIP President
     SOOSIE LAZENBY: "With a solid reputation in sports marketing
     and events management, Lazenby brings a wealth of experience
     and contacts to a job of attracting events."  The agency 
     has an annual budget of about $950,000, with six full-time
     and four part-time employees (BOSTON GLOBE, 10/10).
