For the first time ever, CBS' "Everybody Loves Raymond"
surpassed "MNF" as the "most-watched" program on Monday
night. Monday's episode of "Raymond" averaged 18.1 million
viewers, while the 49ers-Cardinals averaged 17.8 million
viewers (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 9/29). But the 49ers-Cardinals
game still won Monday night with a 13.3/22 Nielsen rating
and an 8.2/23 among adults 18-49 (DAILY VARIETY, 9/29).
Locally, the game drew a 21.4/30 in Phoenix and a 31.0/50 in
San Francisco (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 9/29). ABC's ratings for
the first two weeks "outperformed" those from last year's
first two weeks. Ratings among adults 18-49 are up 14% from
last season, from an 8.7/23 to a 9.9/28, and 12% among men
18-49, from a 12.1/31 to a 13.5/37 (HOLLY. REPORTER, 9/29).
SUNDAY RATING: ESPN's Giants-Patriots game Sunday night
was the top-rated cable telecast of the week, earning a 3.8
Nielsen rating among adults 18-49. ESPN also topped
national primetime 18-49 cable averages for the week with a
1.1/3, up 10% from last year (DAILY VARIETY, 9/29).
WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Brazil-U.S. women's soccer match on
ESPN Sunday drew a .51 with about 390,000 HH's, down from
the team's 11.4 rating for its World Cup final on ABC. An
ESPN spokesperson: "Before the World Cup, it would be a high
rating [for a women's soccer game]" (BRIDGE NEWS, 9/28).
