ON THE AIR: TURNER SOUTH INKS CARRIAGE DEAL W/MEDIAONE

          Turner South "took the giant step toward visibility
     Tuesday by reaching an agreement with MediaOne, which
     services 570,000 subscribers" in the Atlanta area, according
     to Prentis Rogers of the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION.  When Turner
     South launches on Friday, it will be on MediaOne's Channel
     45, "except in parts" of north Fulton County where it will
     be on Channel 54.   That's "welcome news" for the Thrashers,
     whose 46-game TV package begins Saturday.  The Hawks' new
     over-the-air TV partner WHOT will also be available on
     Channel 14 of MediaOne.  Turner South hopes to make other
     carriage announcements soon (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 9/29).
