THE PONY'S EXPRESS: CRAIG JAMES INKS VENTURE WITH HOST/USA

In an effort to build on his existing business
endeavors, CBS NFL analyst Craig James has formed a new
joint venture with Host Communications and Universal Sports
America (USA) called "The Pony Sweep." James currently has
a weekly TV show called "In the Huddle," controls the Pro
Players Radio Network, which has 350 affils, oversees three
Web sites and has founded the Dallas-based Craig James
Broadcasting School. James: "This is an incredible
opportunity for me to marry my endeavors to companies with
unparalleled reach throughout the sports and sponsorship
marketplaces." James will serve as the company CEO, and USA
CEO Doug Jarvie will be Chair (USA). James, on the joint
venture: "It's what I've been looking for for the three or
four years I've been doing this" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS,
9/27). One of James' goals is "to create shows like 'In the
Huddle' in five additional NFL markets next season." Host
Communications and USA would "handle ad sales" or at least
"control some of the commercial time" of the TV show
(Langdon Brockinton, SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/27 issue).
