     its "Top 21 Brands Of The 21st Century."  On adidas:
     "They're regaining street cred as the swoosh loses ground." 
     On ESPN: "With its cable networks, magazine, books, Web site
     and restaurants, ESPN already is the king of convergence"
     (AD AGE, 9/20)....John Daly, on being dropped by Callaway:
     "It's sad, but I think it's great to be free.  Granted, I
     could go out and lose everything (by) gambling and drinking,
     but there's no sense in denying it.  It's in my blood" (GOLF

     ...Tennis Canada is seeking sponsorship support after being
     sanctioned to stage a WTA Tour Tier III event in Vancouver
     beginning next August (Tennis Canada)....Royals OF Johnny
     Damon declined an offer by Watson's Pools & Spas to do a
     commercial with Watson's spokesperson, Jennifer Eichler. 
     Royals Senior Dir of Communications Jim Lachimia: "Johnny,
     being married and having two children, probably didn't think
     the image would be good if he was floating around a pool
     with (Eichler)" (K.C. STAR, 9/24)....CNBC's Jerry Cobb noted
     that the "ad-buying binge" of dot-com companies is "driving
     up" the price for TV ads by more than 10% (CNBC, 9/23).
