HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SWING! REGGIE A POSSIBLE HALO PARTNER

Reggie Jackson has met with Henry Nicholas III and
Henry Samueli about possibly joining their bid for the
Angels and the Mighty Ducks, according to Ross Newhan of the
L.A. TIMES. Jackson said he has met with both regarding his
involvement, "conceivably as both an investor and front-
office executive," if they are successful in buying the
franchises. Jackson was part of the Andy Dolich-led group
which bid for the A's, but he said that he is "available to
join the Nicholas-Sameuli group because he considered the
     A's purchase a dead issue" (L.A. TIMES, 9/24).
DEAL STATUS: In CA, Bonita Brewer reported that the
Dolich group's deal for the A's "is all but dead." Dolich
partner Bob Piccinini: "When [MLB owners] did what they did
last week, they took all the wind out of our sails in terms
of momentum, and one only has to look at what's happened to
attendance in the last four or five days to recognize that
the general public [is mad]" (CONTRA COSTA TIMES, 9/23).
