RED SOX COULD BE LOOKING FOR $53M IN PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS

A draft of the Red Sox's transportation plan for their
new ballpark includes a proposed $53M in public
improvements, according to Meg Vaillancourt of the BOSTON
GLOBE. But team officials said yesterday that the draft is
a "work in progress" and that it does not represent a
request for taxpayer dollars. Among the team's proposals:
Increasing capacity on the city's Green [Subway] Line by
adding trains/frequency; transforming Yawkey Station into a
full-time year-round commuter rail stop and possibly
including shuttle busses from other rail stops. The team is
also "counting" on $15.5M in transportation improvements
already planned by the city (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/24).
