BRANDI'S IN GEAR, AGAIN: Brandi Chastain is profiled in
the current issue of GEAR and said that "she didn't receive
any extra money for the publicity she brought" Nike with the
"sports bra incident." Chastain, on treatment of U.S. women
soccer players by corporate sponsors: "We're definitely not
on easy street. But I think we've been very nice about not
making a case about it. We've been very generous with
ourselves. We've given more than we've received, but it
doesn't make us bitter. Which I think it could. We are
slightly tormented by that fact. But I tell the other women
on the team, 'Don't get freaked out. Rome wasn't built in a
day and neither was soccer'" (GEAR, 10/99 issue).
