FRANCE FAMILY PART OF INVESTMENT GROUP OF NEW RACING SERIES

          Investors yesterday announced the formation of the
     Daytona Beach-based Grand American Road Racing Association
     (GARRA), a new sanctioning body whose main focus will be the
     organization of pro road racing in North America.  GARRA
     President Roger Edmondson: "In creating this new
     organization, we have taken a page from the NASCAR book." 
     In announcing the new group, GARRA said it signed a four-
     year TV deal with SpeedVision to air its races and related
     programming.  GARRA has named John Bishop as Commissioner
     and Bruce Mosley as Dir of Marketing (GARRA).  In Orlando,
     Juliet Macur reports that GARRA will "work side by side"
     with NASCAR and Int'l Speedway Corp.  A group of 12-15
     private investors, which includes the France family, formed
     GARRA, which "will hold events exclusively" in the U.S.  The
     racing series will begin next year (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 9/22).
