WILL MARVIN DAVIS DO IT "FOR MY BOYS?" HE SOUNDS SERIOUS

Ravens Owner Art Modell said Marvin Davis is serious
about paying $1B-plus for an L.A. expansion team. Davis
told Modell, "I'm not going to back off of it. I'm real
serious about getting a team for my boys" (USA TODAY, 9/22).
In his Pro Football column, USA TODAY's Gordon Forbes writes
that NFL owners "will be making a serious mistake if they
follow the money trail and place a team at Hollywood Park."
Forbes: "Houston might be a smaller market, but Texans have
a passion for the game that Los Angelenos can never match.
And if the owners care more about fan loyalty than dividing
Davis' expansion money, they'll welcome [Houston bid leader
Bob] McNair into the lodge" (USA TODAY, 9/22).
