EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          MLB MOVES: The Rockies named DAN O'DOWD as Exec VP &
     GM.  O'Dowd, who was Assistant GM for the Indians, signed a
     five-year deal (Mult., 9/21)....The Rangers extended the
     contract of GM DOUG MELVIN through 2002 (FT. WORTH STAR-
     TELEGRAM, 9/21)....The Mariners are searching for a new GM
     after VP/Baseball Operations WOODY WOODWARD announced his
     retirement.  He will remain with the team in a special
     assignment role based in FL (Mariners).  In Seattle, Tyler
     Kepner reports that PAT GILLICK is among those candidates in
     the mix for the position (SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENER, 9/21). 
          OTHER MOVES: BOB CLEARY has been promoted to Russell
     Athletic Retail VP/Sales (Russell)....The IBL named JOSEPH
     KEOUGH as its CFO.  Keough was most recently Controller &
     CFO at Washington Sports (IBL).....Pro Player Stadium VP &
     GM BRUCE SCHULZE has been appointed President effective
     October 1.  Schulze replaces BOB KRAMM, who resigned to
     pursue other opportunities (Pro Player Stadium).
