WILD THING: TWINS SAY NO TO NHL TEAM'S OFFER, FOR NOW

The Twins "rejected a purchase offer" from the owners
of the NHL Wild, according to Aron Kahn of the ST. PAUL
PIONEER PRESS. The offer, terms of which were not
disclosed, was "declined recently after weeks of
negotiations," but talks will "continue as the two sides try
to meet a timetable" for a new Twins ballpark. Finding "new
owners for the team is a crucial part" of the St. Paul
ballpark plan. Meanwhile, the Wild will buy the "historic
Minnesota Club building near their new downtown hockey
arena" and use the facility for executive offices "while
providing a space for the private social club." The
purchase price was not disclosed (PIONEER PRESS, 9/18).
