U.S. OPEN RATINGS TREND: WILLIAMS/AGASSI BOOST CBS NUMBERS

          CBS earned a 3.5/10 final Nielsen rating for its
     coverage of the U.S. Open, up 52% over last year's average
     of a 2.3/7.  Boosted by the play of the Williams sisters and
     Andre Agassi's championship, CBS earned its highest for the
     event since '91.  Meanwhile, ratings on USA Network were up
     11% over last year, with an average of 851,000 HHs overall. 
     Primetime coverage was up 8%, to an average of 1.1 million
     HHs.  The following is a breakdown of CBS' final weekend
     ratings compared to '98 (THE DAILY):
