ORIOLES FORCED TO MAKE UP TWO HOME GAMES DUE TO FLOYD

The Orioles were forced to postpone the final two games
of their series against the A's due to Hurricane Floyd, and
in Baltimore, Joe Strauss reports that the Orioles "are
confronted with shoe-horning two games" against a wild-card
contender into a scheduled day off September 23. Strauss:
"Safe to say, the Orioles are unlikely to wave off a
guaranteed gate of about 41,000." Yesterday's dual
postponements "makes it likely that refunds will be extended
for at least one of those games" (Baltimore SUN, 9/16).
COULD PPV BE EFFECTED? Top Rank CEO Bob Arum expressed
concern that Hurricane Floyd could "alter the level of PPV
profit" from Saturday's Oscar De La Hoya-Felix Trinidad
bout. Arum has projected the fight will do 850,000 buys.
Arum: "I can't predict how many (PPV) buys we will lose
because of the hurricane, but my feeling is the losses will
be minimal" (Bob Raissman, N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/16).
