TV MONITOR: Last night's 11:00pm ET edition of CNN/SI's
"Sports Tonight" led with Mets-Rockies, followed by an
update on Braves-Padres. FSN's 11:00pm ET edition of
"Primetime" (Fox Sports Net Detroit) led with Yankees-Blue
Jays, followed by Cubs-Reds. ESPN's "SportsCenter," which
aired at 1:30am ET due to its MLB doubleheader on ESPN and
ESPN2, led with Red Sox-Indians, followed by Yankees-Blue
Jays. The first non-MLB story on "Sports Tonight" and
"SportsCenter," at 3:50 and 10:06, respectively, was the
Browns naming Tim Couch as starting QB. The first non-MLB
story on "Primetime," 5:40 into the broadcast, was an update
on Broncos RB Terrell Davis' injured wrist (THE DAILY).
MORE NOTES: FSN has hired former NFL LB Chris Spielman
as a studio analyst for its "NFL This Morning" program for
the rest of the season (FSN)....In Miami, Barry Jackson
reported that Monday's Dolphins-Broncos game was the
"highest-rated program" in prime-time local Miami TV that
evening, earning a 26 rating. That rating ranked No. 2
nationally among Nielsen's metered markets, behind Denver's
48.7 (MIAMI HERALD, 9/15)....In Philadelphia, John Smallwood
wonders why John Elway is not on ESPN's list of the Greatest
Athletes of the 20th Century: "Elway absolutely must be on
that list. The only other omission even remotely as blatant
is hockey's Mark Messier" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 9/16).
