"criticized" the IOC's "blueprint" for an int'l anti-doping
agency, calling the IOC proposal "inadequate," saying he was
"not on board" and accusing the IOC of being "detached from
reality" (WASHINGTON POST, 9/16). Meanwhile, the Blue Cross
& Blue Shield Assoc., which includes Olympic sponsor Regence
Blue Cross Blue Shield of UT, "urged" the IOC to "increase
its efforts to combat use of illegal, performance-enhancing
drugs." IOC VP Dick Pound said that the IOC is "committed
to spending" $25M to set up an Int'l Anti-Doping Agency "by
year's end" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 9/16).
MORE NOTES: Bank of America launched a 12-month, 48-
city tour to promote the 2000 Games as part of its U.S.
Olympic team sponsorship. The "Down Under Tour" will
feature Australian culture and entertainment, and will give
away trips to Australia. Bank of America agencies Bozell
Worldwide, N.Y., and Temerlin McClain, Dallas, helped
