Broncos RB Terrell Davis' image "will grace" the label
of 280 million cans of Campbell's Chunky Soup, according to
Dina Berta of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, who wrote that
Campbell's unveiled a 10-foot model of the Davis can at Mile
High Stadium yesterday. An ad campaign for the promotion
"broke" during ABC's Dolphins-Broncos "MNF" game and was a
"tribute" to former Broncos QB John Elway. Other spots
featuring Davis and Broncos G Mark Schlereth will also air
this season. Campbell's has "selected" Davis as "national
captain" for its Campbell's Chunky NFL Tracking Hunger 2000
program, "a charitable promotion that ties food bank
donations to the performance of teams in the" NFL. Davis is
the second NFL player to have his face on a can of Chunky's.
Former Packers DL Reggie White was first after Super Bowl
XXXI. Chunky Soup has experienced "double-digit increases"
in sales due to its utilization of the "appeal of star
football players" in its marketing. Campbell's Chunky Soup
Business Dir Syd Rollock: "The response to the program has
been tremendous" (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 9/14).
