          In Charlotte, Chandler & Eichel write Hornets Owner
     GEORGE SHINN will have a "predominantly male, middle-aged
     jury" hearing testimony in the sex-assault lawsuit filed
     against him by LESLIE PRICE.  Potential jurors were asked
     "if any held beliefs about religion, women's rights, wealthy
     people -- even the Hornets -- that might keep them from
     being fair" (OBSERVER, 9/14)....In N.Y., Rush & Molloy write
     that STEFFI GRAF and ANDRE AGASSI were seen  "locking lips
     at Rosa Mexicano on First Ave. Saturday night" by an
     "eyewitness" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/14)...."Entertainment
     Weekly" names ABC's "SPORTS NIGHT" as its "Loser of the
     Week," because the net "pulled reruns of the critically
     acclaimed but under-performing comedy from the schedule and
     will delay its season premiere until October" ("EW," 9/10
     issue).  However, "Sports Night" did win an Emmy on Sunday,
     as Dir THOMAS SCHLAMME won Best Direction of a Comedy
     Series.  "Sports Night" Editor JANET ASKIKAGA secured a
     previously announced Emmy for Outstanding Multi-Camera
     Picture Editing for a Series.  Also, MARGUERITE DERRICKS won
     an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography on TBS' presentation of
     The Goodwill Games Opening Celebration and Oilers Minority
     Owner TODD MCFARLANE won Outstanding Animated Program for
     "Spawn" on HBO (THE DAILY)....MARTINA NAVRATILOVA appeared
     on "GMA" to promote tonight's opening of the ESPN Zone in
     Times Square.  Also on GMA, WAYNE GRETZKY promoted his role
     as Official Spokesperson for the OsteoArthritis Early
     Awareness Campaign (ABC, 9/14)....In Chicago, Ed Sherman
     writes that MICHAEL JORDAN has signed up as an amateur in
     the $150,000 Chicago Open to "see how his game measures up
     in competition" (TRIBUNE, 9/14)....The grand opening of the
     NBA CITY in Orlando has been postponed due to possible
     effects of HURRICANE FLOYD (NBA).
