EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          MLB promoted PAUL ARCHEY to VP/Int'l Business
     Operations, where he will be responsible for managing all
     aspects of MLB's business initiatives, including TV,
     sponsorship, licensing, special events and market
     development.  Archey was with MLB Int'l (MLB)....BRANDWEEK's
     Terry Lefton reports that CA-based Fantastic Sports named
     JON SCHNEIDER as VP.  Schneider, who will be involved with
     premium sales, was VP/Marketing & Team Business at Fotoball. 
     Meanwhile, TODD PARKER has left the USTA to join NY-based
     Internet startup Affiliation Networks as Dir of National
     Business Development (BRANDWEEK, 9/13 issue)....Maloof
     Sports & Entertainment named AMELYA STEVENSON as the
     company's first-ever VP/Human Resources.  Stevenson will
     handle human resources for the NBA Kings, Monarchs, Knights
     and ARCO Arena.  She was most recently FL-based Interim
     Services Dir of Managed Staffing (Kings)....Seattle-based
     online media buying campany Avenue A named BRIAN MCANDREWS
     as its first CEO.  McAndrews left ABC Sports in March, where
     he served as Exec VP & GM (SEATTLE P-I, 9/14)....In N.Y.,
     Allyson Lieberman reports that TED TURNER "booted" WCW
     President ERIC BISCHOFF (N.Y. POST, 9/14).
          NHL'S LINE CHANGE: BLOOMBERG's Buteau & Bloom report
     that outgoing NHL COO STEVE SOLOMON joins "several" league
     employees who have left in the past year.  TRACY WARHSAW,
     the league's Corporate Communications Manager, resigned
     effective this Friday.  The NHL "said the turnover isn't
     unusual for a major sports league."  NHL Group
     VP/Communications BERNADETTE MANSUR: "We're very fortunate
     in attracting very competent and very bright executives and
     thus, there will be turnover" (BLOOMBERG, 9/13).
