PEOPLE & PERSONALITIES: BRANDI'S BOUNCE, IVERSON GOES SOLO?

          Brandi Chastain will appear today at Bloomingdale's in
     N.Y. to introduce the Nike Inner Active Sports Bra, which
     she revealed in her WWC victory celebration (THE DAILY).
          WHERE'S THE AD SUPPORT? BRANDWEEK's Terry Lefton
     reports that 76ers G Allen Iverson "will have his new Answer
     III shoes introduced later this fall with no ad support,"
     but Iverson "will likely appear" in a "brand campaign" next
     year (BRANDWEEK, 9/13 issue). 
          OSCAR, OSCAR, OSCAR: Oscar De La Hoya is featured in
     new print and radio ads for MET-Rx, created in-house.
     ADWEEK's Angela Dawson reports that the print ad, "showing
     him fit and trim in the corner of a boxing ring," is running
     in sports and fitness magazines.  In a radio ad, De La Hoya
     says, "I feel leaner, and it makes me feel faster in the
     ring.  All I have to do is take a MET-Rx bar, start
     training, and I have all the energy in the world."  After De
     La Hoya's bout Saturday against Felix Trinidad, he will
     appear in a MET-Rx TV spot (ADWEEK, 9/13).  MET-Rx's De La
     Hoya ad appears in the current ESPN Magazine (9/20 issue).
          BASEBALL: Oilers minority Owner Todd McFarlane, who
     paid over $3M for Mark McGwire's 70th HR ball, on McGwire
     and Sammy Sosa again threatening to break the single-season
     HR record: "Of course, I'm the guy making up all my T-shirts
     that say, '69 would be just fine'" (S.F. EXAMINER, 9/11).
     ...In a survey of 34 Field of Dreams stores across the U.S.,
     Ken Griffey Jr. was named memorabilia collectors' "number
     one favorite."  Sosa finished second, while Michael Jordan,
     McGwire and John Elway rounded out the top five (THE DAILY).
          GOLF: The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Liz Mullen reports
     that as part of the Callaway Golf/Orlimar lawsuit settlement
     (see THE DAILY, 9/10), Orlimar will pay royalties on sales
     of certain Trimetal irons and will no longer be able to use
     the slogans "Oversize is overrated" or "Oversize is over" in
     ads (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/13 issue)....Fuzzy Zoeller
     has inked a deal to play Carbite Golf clubs, carry a Carbite
     bag and serve as a spokesperson for Carbite Golf (Carbite).
