IS BRUTON SMITH GAMBLING ON A NEW TRACK IN ATLANTIC CITY?

NJ state legislators met with SMI Chair Bruton Smith at
Lowe's Motor Speedway last week in an "effort to pique"
Smith's interest "in building a new track near Atlantic
City," according to David Poole of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER,
who noted that the meeting was "held at the New Jersey
officials' request, not because Smith sought them out."
Poole: "NASCAR has been cool to Smith's previous interest in
an Atlantic City-area track, and their reaction to a
proposed track elsewhere in New Jersey isn't likely to be
any warmer, regardless of whether or not Smith would be
involved." A NJ track "would conflict" with tracks in Dover
(DE) and Pocono (PA) (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 9/12).
