NFL USES THE SCHWARZ TO HELP LAUNCH '99 MERCHANDISING EFFORT

          The NFL will launch a 300-square-foot interactive "Play
     Football" shop at the FAO Schwarz store in NYC tomorrow,
     featuring over 60 league-licensed products including toys,
     games, books, apparel, home furnishings and memorabilia. 
     Products from over 20 NFL licensees will be displayed until
     after the Pro Bowl.  The NFL will also open "Play Football"
     shops at FAO Schwarz stores in Miami and Atlanta (NFL).
          UPSCALE TAILGATING: In Green Bay, Elaine Kauh reported
     on sponsorship activities around tailgating.  Chad Mix, VP
     of WI-based Game Day Sports Marketing, which sponsors "Game
     Day Green Bay," a Packers tailgate party, on fans' pregame
     activities: "In the '80s, nobody did anything but go to the
     parking lot.  Our purpose is to provide a better place for
     people to go" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 9/9).
