IS THE PRICE RIGHT? TICKET FIGURES SET FOR 2002 OLYMPICS

Half of the 1.9 million tickets to the 2002 Salt Lake
City Games "will cost less than" $60, and more than 173,000
"will be set aside" for UT residents, according to Linda
Fantin of the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, who notes that tickets
"could go on sale" over the Internet by August 2000. Fantin
adds that the average ticket price is 14% higher than the
'98 Olympics. Meanwhile, the SLOC "has not settled on a
price range" for opening and closing ceremonies. Half of
the tickets, 886,972 tickets, will be available for "public
purchase" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 9/10). About 78% of the
tickets are less than $100 (USA TODAY, 9/10).
A NEW DON: In Salt Lake City, Mike Gorrell reports that
the SLOC "selected" Don Mischer to produce the Opening and
Closing Ceremonies for the 2002 Games. Mischer has won 13
Emmy Awards (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 9/10). Mischer produced the
Opening Ceremonies for the '96 Games (DAILY VARIETY, 9/10).
