SUITE OR SOUR? MILLER PARK SUITEHOLDERS COULD BE IN LIMBO

Due to the delayed opening of Miller Park, the 20
companies that have already paid over $500,000 to the
Brewers for deposits on Founders Club field-level suites at
the ballpark now "face the possibility that they will get no
value for their money for a full year," according to Kenneth
Lamke of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. But the team,
which is "expected to announce soon" that the opening of the
ballpark will delayed until April 2001, says that "won't
happen." Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce
President Tim Sheehy "raised" the question about the
$500,000 deposits for the suites and "suggested that the
suiteholders would probably expect some return on their
money." Brewers VP/Corporate Affairs Laurel Prieb said it
"would be premature for the club to announce a solution
until it knows for sure how long the delay will be." Prieb
noted that the suites cost $100,000 annually and require
ten-year leases, but "declined to comment" on the $500,000
     deposits (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 9/10).
