RAPIDS GROWTH? SOCCER-ONLY STADIUM COULD BECOME A REALITY

          The Rapids are "considering" building their own 30,000-
     seat stadium for an estimated $40-50M, according to John
     Rebchook of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS.  Rapids Dir of PR Ben
     Grossman said the team is "looking at sites," but is "not
     necessarily going to build a stadium."  Grossman: "We may
     have to build one, and so we are taking a very serious look
     at sites and costs and possible plans."  Grossman added the
     team "would give serious consideration to sharing our venue
     with someone else."  Rebchook suggested that a "possibility"
     would be to share the facility with a school district. 
     While the Rapids "have yet to sign a lease" to play in the
     new Broncos stadium, the Broncos said they are "willing to
     work" with the Rapids (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 8/29).
