CALLAWAY/TAYLOR MADE DEBATE TAKES TURN WITH JUDGE'S MOTION

CA Superior Court Judge Michael Anello "denied
Callaway's motion for a temporary restraining order against"
former Callaway Golf Ball VP/Sales Mark King, who left the
company to become Taylor Made President, according to Mike
Freeman of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. Since CA law
"favors the ability of employees to switch companies,"
Freeman notes that Anello's ruling "was expected." More
Freeman: "The decision strikes a blow to Callaway efforts to
protect what it believes are threatened trade secrets."
However, Callaway did win a "partial victory" when Anello
set a September 23 hearing date for Callaway's preliminary
     injunction request (S.D. UNION-TRIBUNE, 8/27).
