          U.S. Sen ORRIN HATCH (R-UT) raised $300,000 from a
     $1,000-a-plate presidential fundraiser, which was attended
     by Jazz F KARL MALONE (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 8/20)....D'Backs
     LF LUIS GONZALEZ has purchased season tickets to the NFL
     Cardinals and an America West Arena suite for Coyotes games
     (ARIZONA DAILY STAR, 8/20)....Attorneys for MUHAMMAD ALI are
     suing Ali's former attorney RICHARD HIRSCHFELD and Ali
     associate JABIR HERBERT MUHAMMAD claiming the two "duped
     [Ali] into signing away rights to his life story" and of
     "taking advantage of Ali's weak condition" (AP,
     8/18)....Upper Deck CEO RICHARD MCWILLIAM repurchased a rare
     MICHAEL JORDAN Game Jersey card for $50,000 at a SportsFest
     Chicago auction.  The card, which was No. 1 in a series of
     275, was given only to Upper Deck employees as a gift this
     summer (SportsFest Chicago)....Orioles Owner PETER ANGELOS
     is being "sued for legal malpractice" in Miami by CAROL
     SIMPSON, whose husband died of an asbestos-related disease. 
     Simpson claims Angeles, who she hired as representation, let
     the statute of limitations expire on the case (MIAMI HERALD,
     8/20)....MIKE TYSON was profiled on last night's
     "Entertainment Tonight" by Mark Steines.  Tyson, on his new
     music label, TYSON RECORDS: "We established something in one
     particular field, which we will dominate again, and that's
     the boxing field.  And now we're starting an establishment
     in the music industry" ("ET," 8/19).
