PATRIOTS HOPE BRINGING IN MORE MULA WILL SAVE SOME DOLLARS

Boston-based agent JACK MULA has become the Patriots'
"new contract negotiator and salary cap expert," according
to Cafardo & Borges of the BOSTON GLOBE. Mula, who owns
Mula and Associates, will begin his duties next week, and
will work with team VP/Business Operations ANDY WASYNCZUK,
who is "spending much of his time on stadium issues." Mula
has been an agent since '81 and represents DOUG FLUTIE and
"several other NFL players." Cafardo & Borges write that
the "timing of the move is interesting since Mula's stable
of players had grown over the past few years." He had
"been working with" former Packers DE SEAN JONES in
"marketing for players around the country." Mula "was
hoping to place some of his players" with Jones and RALPH
CINDRICH. Mula also has a background in zoning law, which
could help the team's stadium effort (BOSTON GLOBE, 8/19).
