CALLAWAY'S YASH-IN STATEMENT: COMPANY TABS ELY'S SUCCESSOR

CA-based Callaway Golf's BOD named CHUCK YASH
President, effective immediately. Yash, who has been
President & CEO of Callaway Golf Ball Co. since its
inception in '96, was also designated to succeed Callaway
Golf CEO ELY CALLAWAY by December 31, 2000, or whenever
Callaway steps down from active management in the company.
Yash will continue to head Callaway Golf Ball (Callaway).
In San Diego, Mike Freeman wrote that the move to promote
Yash "signifies" that Ely Callaway "has succeeded in
getting" the company "back on course" and "signals how vital
a role" the company's new golf ball "will play in the future
of the company." Ely Callaway will remain as CEO "in part
to allow Yash the time to make a smooth transition toward
leading the firm" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 8/18).
