REDSKINS HAVE SOME SEASON TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR '99 SEASON

The Redskins have sold out all of their regular-season
games since the mid-60s, but this year, they have "a number"
of general admission season tickets "available" at $550 each
for eight regular-season home games and two preseason home
games, according to Thomas Heath of the WASHINGTON POST. A
Redskins source said that in June the Redskins "upgraded
about" 1,000 season ticket holders to "better seats, which
had been vacated by fans who did not renew their ticket
plans." The source added that the Redskins then sold
"approximately" 2,600 tickets to people on the waiting list,
and "most" of the 2,600 seats came from "non-renewed" season
tickets, including 400 singles. The "rest" came from seats
new Owner Daniel Snyder "reallocated" from "house seats"
that the John Kent Cooke family "kept in reserve for special
guests." The team said it does not have time to contact
people on its waiting list and is instead trying to sell the
tickets to season-ticket holders. Meanwhile, Heath cited
sources as saying that the number of unsold club seats has
been "reduced" from 2,400 to "less than" 1,000 and the team
hopes to sell the rest by September 1 (WASH. POST, 8/14).
