EVENT NOTES

          In Chicago, Greg Couch writes that "things aren't going
     well at the Showdown at Sherwood," the golf match featuring
     Tiger Woods and David Duval Monday on ABC.  Couch writes
     that "no one is buying tickets."  Sales have "gone so poorly
     that promoters decided to cut ticket prices back" from $250
     to $100 (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 7/29).....In Boston, Gregg Krupa
     notes Boston's recent hosting of the MLB All-Star Game, the
     Davis Cup and the upcoming Ryder Cup and writes that the
     city is "building the image of a successful host of national
     and international sports events" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/29).
