LET'S GET ALONG! NBA/NBPA FORM GROUP FOR BETTER RELATIONS

          The NBA named 76ers President Pat Croce to a new
     player-team planning committee that will "search for ways to
     improve relations" on both sides, according to Phil Jasner
     of the PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS.  Croce is expected to join
     Cavaliers Chair Gordon Gund, Suns President & CEO Jerry
     Colangelo, Nets co-Owner Lewis Katz and Maple Leaf Sports &
     Entertainment NBA Gov. Larry Tannenbaum at the committee's
     first meeting today in N.Y.  NBPA Dir of Communications Dan
     Wasserman said that the players who "would attend" included
     Hawks C Dikembe Mutombo, Knicks C Patrick Ewing, Pacers F
     Antonio Davis, Bucks F Michael Curry and Nets C Jim
     McIlvaine.  Jasner adds that Curry was named NBPA VP,
     replacing Charles Smith (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 7/28).
