FLYING FIRST-CLASS: ORIOLES OFFER NEW INTERNET SERVICE

The Orioles began offering their own "nationwide dial-
up" Internet service yesterday, according to Michael Stroh
of the Baltimore SUN, who wrote "the service offers fans
their own `vanity' e-mail addresses and Web pages." Stroh:
"So now you can be joe@theorioles.com." Stroh added that
the Orioles are also "planning to offer" Web subscribers
exclusive online chat sessions with coaches and players,
live Web cameras that broadcast batting practice, and "the
ability to listen in" during the preseason draft sessions.
The service, which is provided by N.Y.-based UltraStar,
costs $14.95 a month for "unlimited" Internet access. Team
officials said that fans who "want to keep their current"
Internet service provider but "still want access" to online
chats and "other perks" will pay a reduced rate (SUN, 7/26).
