THE DESERT TIGER: WOODS RELOCATES END-OF-YEAR TOURNAMENT

As first reported by the AP, Tiger Woods "will move"
his year-end golf tournament benefitting the Tiger Woods
Foundation to Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, from the Rio
Secco Golf Club in Las Vegas, "to avoid what will be a
massive New Year's Eve celebration," according to John Davis
of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Woods' agent, IMG's Mark
Steinberg, said that the event, to be held December 29-
January 2, will be "comprised of the top 10 players
available from the world rankings, plus two players" chosen
by Woods' foundation. The tournament's first two rounds
will be played Wednesday and Thursday, with a pro-am event
scheduled for New Year's Day. The final two rounds, played
Saturday and Sunday, will be televised by NBC. The AP
reported that the event "probably will be called the Buy.com
World Challenge," as the Internet site has "signed up as the
tournament sponsor," while Target is "lined up as a
     presenting sponsor" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 7/21).
