WINSTON-SALEM MAPS OUT ITS PLANS TO SECURE AN MLS TEAM

          The Downtown Winston-Salem Development Corp. "released
     the most detailed feasibility study to date ... in its
     quest" to secure an MLS expansion franchise, according to
     Martin Kady of the WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL.  The study details
     a five-year plan that includes the construction of a $35M
     downtown stadium, plus a proposal for the city "to be
     involved in buying and leasing land for the stadium."  The
     "initial goal" is to sell 10,000 PSLs by next summer, which
     would "pay about half the cost of the stadium."  The study
     was conducted by Bellomy Research and Wake Forest Univ.'s
     Babcock School of Management students (W-S JOURNAL, 7/17).
