FACILITY NOTES

LA Gov. Mike Foster vetoed a bill that would have named
the LA Superdome after the late Gov. John McKeithen.
Discussions have been underway "about selling the
Superdome's naming rights," and while there had been "great
support" for naming the facility after McKeithen, Foster
said there was "substantial concern that doing so could have
serious economic consequences for the future of the Dome"
(TIMES-PICAYUNE, 7/13)....A MA group pushing a "new plan"
for a Red Sox ballpark in Allston, MA, has "quietly met"
with MA House leaders who are reviewing ballpark proposals.
But one source familiar with the proposal said, "The plan is
very sketchy" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/15)....In Detroit, the city
"wants to save and reinvent Tiger Stadium rather than tear
it down" and has requested bids from developers around the
U.S. to be submitted by August 20. The city wants the
facility to be the hub of an entertainment, retail and
     residential area (DETROIT NEWS, 7/15).
