FACILITY NOTES: ROCKETS LIKE DOWNTOWN; RED SOX TO PAY UP

          In Houston, John Williams writes that the Rockets and
     the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority "appear ready to
     agree" that a new arena will go downtown.  Sources say that
     "three downtown locations are being investigated amid
     intense negotiations" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 7/13). 
          $$ BILLS: Red Sox CEO John Harrington, asked how much
     private financing the team was willing to contribute toward
     a new ballpark: "It will probably be one of the largest
     contributions of any team so far" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/13).
