          Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL VP & Editor EARL MAUCKER
     wrote that the paper "received many letters critical of our
     decision to report" that JULIUS ERVING is the father of
     tennis player ALEXANDRA STEVENSON.  Maucker, on the
     decision: "The biggest question we had to ask ourselves is:
     Was it a valid news story? ... We were careful to keep the
     paternity information in context.  The story we published
     was a complete profile of Alexandra Stevenson" (SUN-
     SENTINEL, 7/11)....Cowboys QB TROY AIKMAN became engaged to
     RHONDA WORTHEY, who he met when she worked in the team's PR
     office.  Worthey quit her job with the Cowboys "several
     months ago" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/10)....In Chicago, Jim
     Kirk profiled agent TODD MUSBURGER, who "will only say he
     has more than 50 clients, almost resigning himself to the
     fact that he may be close to maxing out" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE,
     7/11)....Jets WR KEYSHAWN JOHNSON is "spearheading" a $53M
     retail center on 23 acres of "abandoned land" in south
     central L.A. (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 7/10).
