CASTING CALLS FOR COSELL! TNT TO PRODUCE "MNF" MOVIE

TNT is "developing a TV movie based on the turbulent
story" behind ABC's "Monday Night Football," according to
Michael Starr of the N.Y. POST. Starr cites a report in an
upcoming TV Guide issue which states the movie will be
written by N.Y. Times TV reporter Bill Carter. It will be
based on his '88 book "Monday Night Mayhem," which was
written with Fortune writer Marc Gunther. Casting will
include finding actors to play Frank Gifford, Don Meredith,
Howard Cosell and O.J. Simpson. Carter, on the casting: "I
think O.J. is kind of a minor character, but Meredith is
crucial and the big part is Cosell -- that's the guts, and
if you don't have Cosell, you don't have a movie." The
movie deal with TNT "will force Carter to stop reporting for
a time on any Turner-owned entities to avoid violating the
     Times' strict conflict-of-interest rules" (N.Y. POST, 6/24).
