PETTIT JOINS BREW'S OWNERSHIP CREW, ACQUIRES STAKE IN TEAM

Milwaukee philanthropist Jane Bradley Pettit "has
bought into the Brewers' ownership group" by purchasing the
shares held by team co-Owner Charles Krause, according to
Tom Haudricourt of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The deal
"is thought" to give Pettit a 14% stake in the team, which
would be the third-largest behind Lorry Uihlein and the
trust fund of MLB Commissioner and former team President Bud
Selig. The exact amount of Pettit's investment remains
undisclosed. Pettit and her former husband, Lloyd Pettit,
"have been heavily involved in the [Milwaukee] sports scene
over the years," running the IHL Admirals and contributing
money to build the Bradley Center. Haudricourt writes that
"getting Pettit on board at this particular time is a coup
for the Brewers," who hope to reduce their debt when they
move into Miller Park next year. The name also "gives a
higher profile" to the team's ownership group, "many of whom
have remained relatively anonymous" throughout the team's
30-year history (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 6/23).
