JAYS FAN FILES LAWSUIT CLAIMING THE SKYCLUB'S NOT THE LIMIT

A Blue Jays season-ticket holder is suing the team and
the SkyDome "for allegedly allowing fans from cheap seats
into the members-only SkyClub," according to Paul Waldie of
the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL. Mark Aldrovandi filed a class-
action lawsuit on behalf of 2,000 SkyClub members seeking
C$21M in damages and claiming that the Blue Jays and the
SkyDome "have misled SkyClub members for four years about
the exclusive nature of the club." The suit alleges the
team and the ballpark "agreed or conspired to maintain the
false pretense that the SkyClub was for the exclusive use of
SkyClub members." Aldrovandi, who has had two SkyClub seats
since '89, said the team increased the annual SkyClub fee in
'95 "but quietly began allowing ticket holders from other
parts of the stadium into SkyClub bars and restaurants" from
'95-'99. Blue Jays COO Bob Nicholson said the team intends
to "defend our position" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 6/23).
