LEAGUE NOTES

          USA TODAY's Gordon Forbes writes that Turner Sports
     President Harvey Schiller says the proposed NBC-Turner
     football league is "still a go.  We're lining up investors
     in operating teams and sponsorships."  Schiller says that
     "there is no firm timetable," which Forbes notes as "a bad
     sign" (USA TODAY, 6/22)....During Friday's telecast of the
     WNBA Sparks-Liberty game, Lifetime analyst Mary Murphy cited
     "some team officials" as listing the conditions to be met
     for incoming WNBA franchises: a $500,000 franchise fee;
     5,500 season tickets; radio coverage of all games; and 6
     local television games (Lifetime)...The IBL's Las Vegas
     franchise named Harry Stokes as acting team President and
     Rolland Todd as head coach & GM.  Stokes previously worked
     with the Gund Investment Corporation (IBL).
