TAKE TWO ... IHL TO LOSE FORT WAYNE, INDIANAPOLIS TEAMS

          Though the IHL lost two teams to "rival leagues"
     yesterday, Cincinnati Cyclones President Doug Kirchhofer
     said that the league will "survive" with its 12 remaining
     clubs, according to Sam Mellinger of the CINCINNATI
     ENQUIRER.  The Fort Wayne Komets and Indianapolis Ice
     "informed the league" yesterday of "plans to switch"
     leagues.  The Komets, the IHL's oldest team, will play in
     the UHL, while the Ice will move to the CHL.  Kirchhofer:
     "We had 12 teams when we joined the league in 1992, and
     everything ran great.  The scheduling worked fine, the
     playoff structure worked fine; now we're back to that." 
     Kirchhofer added that the moves are "not an indictment of
     the IHL's current state" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 6/17).
