MCLANE AND TV OFFICIAL LOOK TO PUT INCIDENT BEHIND THEM

Astros Owner Drayton McLane and KTDM-Telemundo GM Marco
Camacho signed an agreement Friday to "work together" and
"put the issue" of whether McLane made disparaging remarks
about Hispanics "behind them," according to Edward Hegstrom
of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. In a joint statement, McLane
"reiterated" that he never made the remarks: "At no time did
I make any biased or derogatory remarks and none were
intended regarding Hispanics or the Hispanic community."
Camacho: "It is now clear that Mr. McLane is not biased or
insensitive toward the Hispanic community." McLane and
Camacho will also "redouble their efforts to reach out to
the Hispanic community," and KTDM will agree to "promote
those efforts," but neither side "apologized." Hegstrom
added that some Hispanic leaders "now say they believe it
was Camacho who was in error" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 6/13).
