MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night, the 11:00pm edition of "Fox
     Sports News Primetime" (FSN Detroit), led with the Red Sox-
     Yankees, followed with an update of the Orioles-Angels. 
     ESPN's "SportsCenter" led its 11:00pm ET edition with a
     Blazers-Jazz update, followed with the Stars-Avalanche. 
     CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with the Red Sox-Yankees,
     followed by the Tigers-White Sox (THE DAILY).     
          OTHER NOTES: Jazz F Karl Malone thinks basketball
     reporter Peter Vecsey holds a grudge against the team for
     his "long-standing feud" with former coach Frank Layden. 
     Vecsey has been critical of Malone's style of play, and
     Malone said, "What amazes me is this guy can sit on TV and
     say whatever he wants" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 5/28)....In
     Chicago, Len Ziehm reports that Saturday's first place
     matchup between the MLS Fire and United won't be on national
     TV.  MLS Commissioner Doug Logan "blamed" the league's
     broadcast partners -- ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and Univision: "I'm a
     little flabbergasted.  This is a premier matchup and will be
     one heck of a game" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 5/28)...The Blazers
     put last night's Game Six against the Jazz on KGW, as fans
     did not have to pay $15.95 to watch the game on BlazerVision
     (OREGONIAN, 5/27)....Ted Marchibroda has been added to the
     Colts' radio broadcast crew (STAR-NEWS, 5/28).
     ...BROADCASTING & CABLE selected www.nhl.com as its Site of
     the Week.  The site has 23 employees and generates between
     150,000-200,000 hits daily (BROADCASTING & CABLE, 5/22).
     ....A Daily Racing Form-sponsored feature which offers
     insight on how to read the publication's past performance
     information, called "Daily Racing Form Running Line," will
     air during the "NTRA Champions on Fox" tomorrow (NTRA).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
