SPORTSCO EXEC SAYS THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN BID FOR JAYS

Ousted Sportsco Int'l President Lawrence Dale said that
his two former partners, Harvey Walken and Alan Cohen,
"won't be able to bid for the Blue Jays because of
agreements that prohibit such a move" without Dale,
according to Tony Van Alphen of the TORONTO STAR. Dale
added that Walken and Cohen are "bound by non-compete
covenants" whereby they can only pursue the Jays with him or
"with his permission." One source believes that Walken and
Cohen terminated Dale because they want control of the
SkyDome (TORONTO STAR, 5/28). In Toronto, Mike Ganter
reports that Sportsco is "not interested" in buying a share
of the Blue Jays. Cohen: "We are not in any way, shape or
form talking to the Blue Jays" (TORONTO SUN, 5/28).
