DOLICH GROUP TO HIT THE BOOKS AS MLB OPENS UP A'S FINANCES

Members of the Andy Dolich group bidding for the A's
"finally got clearance" from MLB yesterday to look at the
team's financial reports, according to Laura Counts of the
OAKLAND TRIBUNE. MLB's preapproval "is just one hurdle in
the complex team sale," but the Dolich group's long delay in
gaining approval "caused many to wonder" whether the group
had all of its financing in place. Andy Dolich: "It (the
delay) had raised some questions in some people's minds,
including ours. Ultimately, we knew we would be preapproved
and now we can move forward." Members of the group approved
to examine the books include Dolich, Save Mart Owner Robert
Piccinini, Men's Warehouse Founder George Zimmer, CA ad exec
Jeff Goodby and the Save Mart corporation, which is backing
the group's $12M deposit. ESPN MLB analyst Joe Morgan, the
Oakland Tribune, Wind River Systems co-Founder Jerry Fiddler
and CA attorney Guy Saperstein did not receive permission to
look at the books (OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 5/28).
