MAVS TRY TO EASE TICKET INCREASE BY LOWERING SOME SEATS

The Mavericks will raise ticket prices next season for
the first time in three years, but they are also lowering
some as well, according to Marc Stein of the DALLAS MORNING
NEWS. Mavs President Terdema Ussery blamed the increases on
"inflationary pressures," and said that the average season-
ticket price will rise from $34 to $36. In an attempt to
"cushion the impact" of the 8% jump, the team will keep the
cost of tickets $27 or less unchanged, and $9 seats will be
reduced to $8. Ussery: "Anytime you have a price
adjustment, you always worry about how the market is going
to respond. I think in this case, we tried to be very
sensitive to families" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 5/27).
