DO YOU (LOCK)LEAR WHAT I HEAR? PRAISE CONTINUES FOR NIKE ADS

The Wieden & Kennedy-produced Nike ads for the Air 120
that feature pitchers practicing to become better hitters
"come on the heels of the roundly criticized" $30M campaign
touting Nike's Alpha line, according to Gina Binole of the
BUSINESS JOURNAL OF PORTLAND. The new spots, which are the
"first ... to carry the fingerprints" of new Nike Ad Dir Rob
DeFlorio, are "being commended for their creativity." The
spot featuring Dodgers P Chan Ho Park "has been so popular"
that it is being recorded in Korean, with "plans" to launch
it in Korea. Nike Manager of Corporate Communications Scott
Reames: "I think reports of our lackluster advertising were
greatly exaggerated" (BUSINESS JOURNAL OF PORTLAND, 5/17).
ARE THEY THAT GOOD? On "Market Wrap," Maria Bartiromo
reported that Nike was "a big highlight, running more than
six percent on positive comments by Goldman Sachs" (CNBC,
5/20). Nike closed at 64, up 3 13/16 (THE DAILY).
